the year of the RAT

It's been almost a year since I've been in Korea, so I suppose that's long enough to settle down and start writing. It's a trade off - the exciting confusing exclamations of someone just arrived, for the more calm, measured perceptions of a settled traveler, musing from his favorite time of day.

Oh I bought a new computer! If I remember correctly, this is the first I've paid with my own money (thanks mom!). It's a HP TC4400 - a tablet notebook! So I can flip it over and write stuff on the screen, like yeah! (from official HP website, )

Got it on Friday, and haven't really played around with it (for example this post is the first contribution to the outside world. But by end of March it should've cured cancer in limpets or something).

But today I installed Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon on it, and it rocks. No, it ROCKS! So much better, so so much better. And this baby is fast enough to support all the fancy window effects and what not, which makes it even more super amazingly awesome. Awesome!

Things left to do
- on-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition
- screen rotate
- softbuttons

Things haven't tested (and might not bother)
- microphone
- fingerprint reader
- quicklaunch buttons
- microwave

The great part is I finally have a wireless laptop that is small enough to carry around, with enough power to do everything I want! Need to find more things to do =]
